Persephone print // -SOLD OUT-
Limited edition of only 50 prints. Signed and numbered. Five color screenprint on Arches 100% cotton, archival deckled print paper. Total size of paper is 30×42 inches
This print is based on my painting of the greek goddess Persephone,
the Queen of the Underworld. She was forced to live in the Underworld with Hades for a third of every year, representing the change of seasons, fertility, and harvest. She has been portrayed in art thousands of times throughout the centuries due to the enduring and universal nature of her myth, and probably partly because she allows artists a great opportunity to depict a beautiful “damsel in distress”. This is just my humble take on it, and I tried to make it as beautiful as possible. She is bathed in Pomegranate red light, resigned to her fate, and aware of her own beauty. This beauty brings spring and summer, life and growth, while also bringing eventual winter, death, and decay.

SONG OF SONGS print // -SOLD OUT-
Limited edition of only 50 prints. Signed, embossed, and numbered. Seven color screenprint on 100% cotton, archival deckled print paper. Total size of paper is 30×42 inches
This image was used for the subscriber cover of Juxtapoz #103. It was printed in the same manner that the original was painted, by starting with a black base, then printing the darkest colors first, building up and ending with the brightest colors, producing a nice layered effect. The title refers to the Thai text in the halo, which is an excerpt from the Song of Solomon in the Old Testament:
Who is this that grows like the dawn,
As beautiful as the full moon,
As pure as the sun,
As awesome as an army with banners?

IXTACCIHUATL print // $400 + $15 shipping/handling
Limited edition of only 75 prints. Signed, titled and numbered. three color screenprint on archival paper. Total size of paper is 30×30 inches, printed area is a little over 24×24″ Printed by Self Help Graphics with SHG chop in lower left
This is a new print just finished by the legendary Self Help Graphics printshop in East LA. This is the nicest & biggest print I’ve done so far and it’s an honor to have had it produced by such an important and respected printshop as SHG. The printer, Joe Alpuche did a perfect job. The title is “Ixtaccihuatl” (basically pronounced “ee.stok.SEE.wot”) which is the name of a large mountain in Mexico said to resemble a sleeping woman.
The myth behind this has inspired countless popular Mexican/Chicano paintings, drawings, calendars, murals, tattoos, merchandise, etc portraying an Azteca warrior cradling his dead lover. This is my sincere take on this traditional theme using my brushwork style.

TONALLI print // -SOLD OUT-
Limited edition of only 43 prints. Signed and numbered. Five color screenprint on 100% cotton, acid-free print paper. Total size of paper is 22×30 inches, printed area is 19×26″
“Tonalli” is a Nahuatl word for the soul, that could be more accurately described as energy derived from the sun. The symbol on the necklace is an Azteca symbol for sunshine. I was trying to convey the feeling you sometimes find in the southwest desert when the sun is setting and is filtered through the dirt in the air, creating a hazy golden glow.

OLLIN print // -SOLD OUT-
Limited edition of only 43 prints. Signed and numbered. Two color screenprint on unprimed canvas cloth. Total size is 20×24 inches, printed area is 15.5×21″
“Ollin” is the Azteca word for movement or change (its symbol is shown above the signature). This image was painted with the lights and darks inverted, and a line about impermanence from the New Testament is included in the halo. All of these elements were combined to illustrate an idea about the transient nature of this world.
